COMUNE is a contemporary street and creative culture brand that was formed from the idea that there will always be people out there who not only embrace the rawness and imperfections of the everyday life, but use it to creatively push the boundaries of what’s possible in skateboarding, fashion, art, and music their own way, with complete disre-gard of the consequences.
The goal of COMUNE is to provide clothing that reflects this lifestyle of carefree idealism and to support the people that choose to live it. “We got together on the premise that we’d inspire each other by just doing the work that we do as individuals, in our own mediums. It is a truly authentic group of creative minds, artistic hands and creative athletes,” said founder Frank Delgadillo.
COMUNE’s mantra, “Something Better Change” reflects the personalities and distinct style of the people responsible for COMUNE who continually push to change and influence the look of the industry.
COMUNE debuted globally with its launch of the Fall 2009 collection in June 2009 and continues to expand its current structure through the addition of DROP CITY, an in-novative and economic gallery space made from recycled steel shipping containers. DROP CITY provides the plat-form to attract likeminded creative people to COMUNE’s artist community and clothing brand. Collaborating artists and photographers include: Corey Smith, Jimmy Fontaine, Jay Lee Parry, Hunter Longe, Justin Bland, Andrew Kuyken-dal, Gareth Stehr, Shelby Menzel, Nathan and Noah Rice, and Ben Frost.
The collection continues to evolve COMUNE both as a brand as well an identity. Each silhouette is directly in-spired from the people behind COMUNE. Whether its a paint streaked pair of denim from a Drop City contribu-tor, a new wash development from the old jeans from one of COMUNE’s skate/snow team riders or a home tailored sweater from a COMUNE employee, each piece has a defined origin in the collection.
