I first saw Dave’s work through a flier for Sneaker Pimps, emailed to me by a friend @ www.headstrong.co.uk. Sneaker Pimps is a world travelling art/sneaker show put on by Nike. Instantly I was blown away by the irreverent mix of Graffiti and Art that Dave was putting down on canvas. www.sneakerpimpsusa.com is just one of the strings to Dave’s bow, where he performs live art pieces on canvas in front of thousands of Sneaker headz.
Dave White hails from the great city of Liverpool, where he gained his degree in art. He has been lucky enough to paint in John Lennon’s old studios and have work placed along side the likes of Hockney and Piccaso!
Dave has a very distinct style of art which can be credited partly to his background in scratch Djing and for his love of sneakers. He has travelled the world and worked with the best in putting down his creative and unique style on pop art sneaker portraits.
I was most excited to see him colab with Nike on a recent project for the 10th anniversary of the Air Max 95. A series of 3 Air Max shoes where designed in the original grey/neon colours paying homage to the initial release. The Exclusive AM87, AM90 and AM 95 where released at the ‘Wet Paint’ event at Size? Carnaby St London last December. If you where lucky enough to get your hands on a pair of the limited AM’s, you also received an original customized Tywek jacket with a sketch of the shoe on the back by Dave. Mr White was also present at the event putting doing live painting of the 3 original Air Max’s!
Dave's work is a long list of limited and exclusive trainers from Adidas Superstars, Bape Bapestas, Nike Jordans, Nike Dunks such as Pigeon, Raygun, Homer, Lucky 7, Heineken, Zoo York etc.
Dave has also collaborated with other people such as One True Saxon, Kid Robot, Oki-Ni, Converse and DPMHI just to name a few.
Dave doesn’t just paint trainers, he has also lent his crazy style to some artwork of some of my favourite Star Wars characters too!
Along side the live art exhibitions, collaborations, web site and scratch djing, he also produces his own t shirt line with limited prints of his work.
His most recent work sees a mad mix of Marvel super hero’s and the Bapesta trainer! Strictly limited edition release prints are available now. Check it out.
