Dunkle -website
Nike SB has come a long way. From its humble beginnings 4 years ago.
Obviously Nike had tried their hand in the skate market previously, by backing Savier, but didn’t really come off.
So the question everyone was asking is Why? Sandy Bodecker, Nike’s VP explains that skateboarding over the years has gained many ‘athletes’ whom apply their skills just as a football, basketball player or gymnast may do.
With the Sneaker craze sweeping the globe some people may say that Nike are cashing in on the market by re-issuing the Dunk as the flagship shoe for SB.
If you check back in time to around 20 years ago. Kids where all skating in either Nike’s Dunk or Adidas’s Shell toe or Superstar as its called. This was due to the fact that there where no other substantial options.
So they took the Dunk and modernized it with a few minor changes. First they started off by collaborating with other Skate giants Zoo York and then the Girl/Chocolate team. Taking their ideas and graphics and adding them to the Dunk.
One thing SB is really known for today is the amazing and seemingly endless collaborations that have been done.

From renowned artists such as Supreme NYC and Futura, to using colour ways customised by their skaters, to colour way’s provided by Team Managers from Stussy, Diamond etc, right through to Music giants Unkle and his Mo Wax record label.
In doing all of this SB has been able to start a new Sneaker craze and bring a whole new customer to core skate stores.
On top of the Dunk Nike have also added 4 or 5 different models for different types of skating. With the P-rod, FC, the classic etc.
The Dunkle featured above has to be the most sort after SB sneaker of them all. Seen to be fetching ridiculous money on that there said auction site.
